Regular readers will know that the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board is now revealing enhancements to the Minnehaha Parkway Regional Trail. The city’s Master Plan is unfolding, and it lays out future park improvements spanning the coming 20 to 30 years.

There are big plans in the works for Sibley Street and Northeast Minneapolis.
A new park will be popping up along the Mississippi River soon.
The Parks and Rec Board, under an agreement with Graco Incorporated, is carrying out plans to develop the waterfront area near Hall’s Island.
Just over two acres of the property are being sold to Graco while Parks and Rec holds onto a little over an acre of the parcel.
What can we expect to see at Graco Park in Northeast Minneapolis?
Expect to see the following amenities built or brought onto the park:
- The Northeast Minneapolis Farmers’ Market.
- An event hall.
- A brewery and brew pub.
- A passageway beneath the bridge at Plymouth Avenue.
- Multiple bridge crossings to Hall’s Island, and a boardwalk on the island’s riverside.
- Launching spots at the river’s edge for people getting in and out of boats, kayaks and canoes.
These are all still ideas, but they paint of picture of the amenities envisioned by the city and Graco.
What does the timeline look like?
The agreement is still in the approval process, with Parks and Rec anticipating a 2022 opening date.
Graco is contributing $10 million-plus to develop the land, which will carry the name “Graco Park” for 30 years.
