Minneapolis is a fast growing city with fabulous organic restaurants within walking neighborhoods. The city of Minneapolis has not only been growing, but also keeping up with the needs of the growing population in terms of style, art, culture and food. With the growth of population and a rise of health conscious people has increased the importance and practice of organic cooking and restaurants. Minneapolis is soon catching up with this trend.
Here are five organic fine dining restaurants in Minneapolis that I suggest that you may try to visit.
Namaste Café is very quaint. The restaurant is located in the Minneapolis Uptown neighborhood. If you like the eclectic taste of Himalayan Indian foods than you should visit the Namaste Café. They also serve a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes. My favorite vegetarian dish is the egg plant with garlic scallions is delicious. Their award-winning chai is fantastic! In the summer months, you can take-in the atmosphere and also eating the delicious cuisine on their outside patio.
Tao Natural Café is a charming organic restaurant in the Lowry Hill neighborhood on the corner of 22nd & Hennepin on the north side of the commercial building.
The Tao Café menu offers anywhere from soup and salad to a delicious turkey sandwiches to a wide variety of vegetarian dishes. One of my favorite vegetarian sandwiches on the menu is the mediterrian mild wrap. The strawberry smoothies are amazing. The staff is friendly. What more could you ask for?
Also, you will find Tao Café has a natural food store, which sells natural teas, supplements, herbs, and books. An added bonus is they offers health and wellness referral services; acupuncture, reiki, ayurvedic consultations, and therapeutic message. “Taoist philosophy: Health achieved through a simple, balanced life in harmony with nature”.
French Meadow Cafe is organic restaurant that ensures the continuity and establishment of organic farmers market. The restaurant hours of operation is from 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM and is located the Minneapolis Lake-Lyndale neighborhood. They serve healthy organic cuisines for breakfast and lunch. The Huevos Rancheros is phenomenal. In 2013, the French Meadow Café has expanded its restaurant to include the full service Bluestem Bar. The restaurant also boasts one of the finest wine and beer collection in the city, and is open for lunch and dinner only. My favorite main dish at the Bluestem Bar is the Almond Encrusted Walleye served with organic garlic potatoes.
The Birchwood Café is located on East 25th Street and 33th Avenue South in the Seward neighborhood. If you are looking for organic restaurant within walking or biking distance of the Mississippi River & River Road, you may want to stop-by The Birchwood Café. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, or also a delicious weekend brunch. They have a wide variety of cuisines on their menu, however I am a ‘big’ fan of their Turkey Burger on a potato bun and also their vegetable pizza is tasty. An added bonus to their flavorful meals is the beautiful artwork displayed by local artist, Matthew Madson.
The Common Roots Café serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner using organic ingredients from local farmers. If you are looking for a homemade flavorful meal in a casual environment, you may want to visit and try their delicious cuisines. Chicken Schnitzel is one of my favorite dishes at the café. Also, they have wonderful tasty salads. If I am short on time, I usually will order a cold veggie salad to go with an iced tea.
